Mr. Robert M. Lightfoot Jr. is the Associate Administrator for NASA, the agency’s highest-ranking civil servant position. He previously served as director of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama – one of NASA’s largest field installations, which plays a critical role in NASA’s space operations, exploration and science missions with nearly 6,000 civil service and contractor employees and an annual budget of approximately $2.5 billion. Synopsis: Government leaders are under significant pressure to reduce their overall cost of doing business. At the same time, they are expected to meet ambitious stakeholder performance objectives, take on new missions, or even transform their organizations to meet current business demands. Over the past decade, transformation, process improvement and efficiency initiatives within government have fallen short of expectations. This session will examine some of the causes of organizational inefficiency and identify proven approaches that can be taken to align your organization’s resources for current operational effectiveness and long-term success.
