What started as a program to provide comfort items to wounded service members as they arrive in the hospitals has grown into assisting warriors as they recover and transition back to civilian life in finding the new normal. Wounded Gathering began when several individuals took small, inspired actions to help others in need. We realized something needed to be done for these brave individuals beyond the brass bands and ticker tape parades.
WBB, in partnership with the Troops First Foundation, Semper Fi Fund and the Warrior Canine Connection hosted Wounded Warriors and their families at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, PA for two days of rest and relaxation. Underwritten by the generous donations of both grateful individual Americans and corporations, this event will featured numerous outdoor sporting and leisure activities such as golf, fly fishing, horseback riding, off-road driving, biking and spa treatments.
The Troops First Foundation develops, operates, and supports a synergistic group of wellness, quality of life, and sports-based initiatives in support of today’s military personnel. These strategically integrated initiatives serve both non-injured and injured military personnel and their families at no cost to them.
The Semper Fi Fund provides relief for financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery as well as assistance for those with perpetuating needs. Their program provides support in a variety of ways including Service Member and Family Support, Specialized & Adaptive Equipment, Adaptive Housing, Adaptive Transportation, Education and Career Transition Assistance, PTSD and TBI Support and assists those service members with catastrophic injuries in intensive care units at our nation’s military hospitals, regardless of what military branch they serve in.
The Warrior Canine Connection is a therapeutic service dog training program that harnesses the healing power of the human-animal bond. WCC teaches Service Members with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) the skill of training mobility service dogs to be partnered with Veterans with mobility impairments. Designed to reduce the symptoms of PTSD in the Warriors who train the dogs – and the great news is, it works!
