Requirements Management Process Development and Execution
Using organizational strategic guidance and objectives, WBB develops requirements management processes (RMP) that are adapted to the organizations’ culture and mission. Our consultants are extremely flexible and apply their vast knowledge and experience to incorporate your organization’s governing principles with business best practices to any environment. WBB can also help strengthen your existing RMP by constructing a traceable and defensible process founded on analytical rigor. WBB has experience developing and improving RMP with several Federal Agencies to include the Veteran’s Administration, NASA, Secret Service, and Department of Homeland Security.
Our process is formed around an understanding of an organization’s strategic guidance and the operational context for the desired capabilities. We account for external and internal impacts when assisting with the development of a hierarchy of capabilities and tasks. Needed capabilities are validated and prioritized in the context of the operational environment by the user community. Determination of the capability gaps and redundancies associated with the required capabilities and tasks is the next step. This is accomplished through an assessment of the sufficiency and proficiency of current and programmed systems in meeting the required capabilities. Finally, we facilitate the development of potential solutions to mitigate or eliminate capability gaps and then assess the viability of those potential solutions. This process first looks at mitigating gaps through non-materiel means. This entails looking at changing guidance, organizational structure, training, leadership and education, personnel and/or facilities. If non-materiel approaches do not completely solve the gaps, then potential materiel solutions are explored.
Each step of the process is thoroughly documented to provide the desired traceability for the final “requirements.” WBB codifies the process as well as assists in program execution. Our experienced consultants can execute RMP in a much shorter timeframe because of our knowledge of RMP and our ability to focus on the high priority needs.
WBB has the flexibility to adapt the effort required based on the complexity and size of a program. Smaller, less complex programs require less effort and conversely, large, complex programs require more time and effort.
