Rafael Matos Elected to the Board of Directors of the Military Operations Research Society (MORS)

June 22, 2009
Whitney, Bradley & Brown, Inc.

Rafael E. Matos, WBB Manager for Fleet Support Analysis, was elected on his first nomination to the Board of Directors of the Military Operations Research Society (MORS) during the society’s annual symposium held at the Army Command and Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

MORS supports analysts, decision makers, and senior leaders addressing national and international security issues. The organization provides analysts with knowledge and advancement of techniques, a network of experts, and professional development opportunities. The MORS Board of Directors manages the professional activities of the society. New members are elected by the existing members for a four-year term. Board members are drawn from those who have participated actively in the Society and represent a cross-section of industry and government. In order to provide consistent supervision for its operations, the Board of Directors has established a number of standing committees. Mr. Matos was unanimously selected as Chairman of the Communications and Outreach Committee, and as Deputy Chair of the Education and Professional Development Committee.

As an active member of the society since joining five years ago, Mr. Matos has been instrumental in the enhancement of the society’s activities dealing with professional development of its members as well as the increased awareness of the need for the integration of social science applications. He is presently enrolled in Doctoral studies in Psychology (with a concentration in Organizational Psychology) at Walden University. His contributions in this area are well known in the society at large, as co-chair of the MORS Warfighter Performance and Social Science Methods working group. He is a frequent guest speaker to the annual Education and Professional Development Colloquium and has provided tutorials at previous MORS Symposiums. His actions, drive and motivation in the interest of the improvement of the society made him an obvious choice for selection to the Board of Director on his first nomination.

Rafael Matos joined WBB in 2005 and is currently the Manager of Fleet Support Analyses. He is a retired Navy Surface Warfare Officer and Operations Research Analyst. He brings over a decade of experience in applying robust numerical analysis, probability and statistics methods, as well as modeling simulation application to complex problem solving. His present areas of study in the influence of social and behavioral elements to legacy mathematical analysis, along with organizational psychology, will support the development of expanded Operations Research Analysis capabilities for WBB Consulting.
