Joint Logistics Center of Excellence adds Deployment, Distribution and Transportation Expertise
WBB recently added several key and distinguished experts in the field of Deployment, Distribution and Transportation, expanding and supplementing the expertise of the 200 plus WBB consultants who provide operational, logistics, and business performance solutions to defense, industry, and government customers.
Mike Friedlein, Manager, Transportation Requirements and Policy.
Mike brings over 27 years of DOD transportation experience to the WBB logistics team. A retired AF Transportation officer, Mike's experience includes aerial port operations and planning, emergency management, strategic distribution, transportation management, intermodal transportation, interagency coordination, exercise scenario development, as well as Air Mobility Command, Joint Staff, and TRANSCOM expertise. He previously served as the Deputy for the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense, Transportation Policy.
Ron Heiter, Manager, Defense Distribution and Deployment.
Ron brings 28 years of Army-Joint transportation and logistics experience to WBB. Ron has expertise in planning and executing cargo movements and exercises through multiple countries, ocean terminal operations; port logistics and security; surface transportation and movement planning; management and development of training in deployment and operational planning; Army watercraft; and afloat pre-positioning. His prior experience includes service as the Executive Director of the Joint Deployment Training Center, Ft Eustis, VA.
Bill Frunzi, Manager, Integrated Survivability and Transportation Programs.
Bill brings over 25 years of Army, joint, special operations, and interagency experience to WBB. His practical logistics experience includes base operations support ashore and afloat; clandestine support to military operations; and support to the Department of State for Joint Task Force Liberia—a stability and security operation. He most recently managed the Army's Tactical Wheeled Vehicle (TWV) program where he brought a warfighter's perspective to guide TWV modernization efforts to include the TWV armoring strategy integrating active and passive survivability solutions.
Neil Smith, Manager, Joint Air Mobility.
Neil brings 22 years of military service as an Air Force airlifter and operational planner. Neil played a key role in the transformation of operational joint movement doctrine and policy in addition to its execution. His areas of expertise are the joint movement process, contingency operations, concept development, aircraft requirements determination and all facets of Joint Capabilities and Integration Development System (JCIDS).
This WBB joint logistics core competency includes development and execution of global defense transportation analysis, requirements planning and optimized sustainment strategies across the spectrum of force generation and power projection. WBB provides world-class deployment, employment and distribution expertise to war fighters, system developers and process managers using or designing operational support solutions throughout the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise. Key areas of effort include:
- Global distribution network and system performance assessments
- Joint capabilities analysis
- Joint deployment and distribution architecture analysis
- Future concept of operation development
- Concept of life-cycle support and supportability planning
- Modernization roadmap development for product lines, systems or family of systems
