Industry How Washington Works Training Course
July 28-29, 2010
The next open enrollment Industry How Washington Works course will be held at WBB World Headquarters in Reston, VA on July 28-29, 2010.
The two-day course will include JCIDS, PPBE, Acquisition, and Working with Congress. Requirements and Organization modules for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and USSOCOM will be presented.
Day 2 will offer each student the opportunity to choose from one of two training modules to close out the course. Attendees have the option of attending one day only or participating in both days of training. Additional details are available below.
Location: This course will be held at WBB’s corporate headquarters located at 11790 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA 20191.
Pricing Information: The cost for attending Day 1 only is $1195. Day 1 plus Day 2 costs $1595.00. Payment is preferred by check or credit card (VISA or MasterCard only). Group rates are available for five or more attendees from the same company or activity.

Course Details
Casual attire is recommended. WBB provides a continental breakfast, commencing at 7:30 AM and lunch each day with a social hour at the end of the first day. The course is composed of the following training modules:
JCIDS: Reviews the CJCSI 3170 series covering the Joint Capabilities Integrated Development System (JCIDS). It examines Department of Defense organizations and respective activities related to the formulation of the capabilities-based planning process.
Acquisition: Describes the organizations and processes associated with DOD 5000 and acquisition reform initiatives, contrasting theory from practice.
PPBE: Explains each element of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution process in detail, highlighting the process and the roles of service staff, Joint Staff, OSD, and Congress.
Military Services: Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps modules examine the requirements generation and justification process, PPBE process, service organization, and the individual service strategic priorities.
Working with Congress: Provides an overview of the organization of Congressional committee structure affecting DOD program and budget reviews, and explores the role of politics and personalities in affecting multi-billion dollar programs.
Special Operations Forces: Provides an overview of the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) organization, missions, and unique requirements, budget acquisition processes.
Department of Homeland Security: This training module describes DHS organization and its unique budget and acquisition processes.
Basic DOD Contracting: Provides an introduction (or refresher) for understanding the DoD Contracting System. This module is designed to assist vendors looking for a first contract or a veteran government contractor in improving understanding of the government competitive processes, when and how to begin planning and development of proposals, how the government evaluates and selects the winning proposal, understanding contract performance assessments (quality control, quality assurance, performance reviews and their impact on future growth), and how to improve relationships between the company and a federal contracting entity. It is not intended specifically for contracting professionals.
