DOORS Requirements Management
DOORS: The Automated Approach to Alignment and Requirements Management
Today's environment demands a powerful yet simple way to manage requirements and ensure their traceability and currency throughout the system acquisition cycle. For DOD systems, this process begins in the initial phase of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) and continues through integrated architecture development, requirements definition for the system specification, and test and procurement. For civilian corporations, this traceability is desired between business objectives, regulations, customer needs and risk aversion. Telelogic's Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System, or DOORS®, is the answer to that need.
WBB provides extensive customer support in tailoring DOORS® for specific client needs, ensuring that better end-game products are achieved through correct requirements alignment initial structuring.
DOORS® is the world's leading requirements management tool. This multi-platform system:
- Captures requirements and their history
- Continuously tracks any/all aspects of the requirement (e.g. classification, risk, interoperability, architecture, test and verification, approval status)
- Associates data across the enterprise (e.g. guidance, justification, rationale, trades)
- Conducts analysis on those associations
DOORS® requirements management is used by more than 100,000 users at over 1,000 companies around the world, including the US Department of Defense, LMCO, Boeing, NGC, Raytheon, NASA, and medical records and software development firms.
- DOORS® has been extensively used by both the government and Lockheed Martin in developing requirements for the F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter)
- DoD has also used DOORS® in generating requirements for the KC-X Replacement Tanker, Joint Threat Emitter, Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, Joint High Speed Vessel, and Joint Standoff Weapon C Block III
- DaimlerChrysler has employed a requirements-driven development approach across globally distributed teams, enabling shared work on common requirements specifications for common components, saving time, and reducing production costs
DOORS®-generated analyses can help identify capabilities that might be affected by a change to associated guidance/capabilities, or identify gaps in traceability by the absence of required associations.
DOORS® inherent access control and embedded Change Proposal System (CPS) make requirements management and document control easy. The CPS allows authorized users to submit proposed changes to requirements, including the justification for the change. All proposals are linked to the target requirement, maintaining a detailed historical record of the what, why, when and whom of recommended changes. After a consolidated review of proposals, DOORS® automatically updates requirements with owner-approved changes and generates updated documents.
