WBB Consultant elected to Challenger Center Board of Directors

The Challenger Center for Space Science Education welcomed WBB consultant Alan Ladwig to its board of directors on January 30, 2008.

Ladwig is manager of Space Systems Consultancy, a newly created unit of WBB dedicated to technical and consulting services for the civil, national security, and commercial space sectors.

Ladwig had a distinguished 14-year career with NASA as both a civil servant and political appointee.  During his tenure, he served as the manager of the Teacher in Space Program and associate administrator for Policy and Plans.  He received NASA’s Exceptional Service Medal, Exceptional Achievement Medal, and NASA’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Medal.

He also had an extensive career in the aerospace industry working with Northrop Grumman Corporation, where he was manager of the NASA and Civil Space Programs, chief operating officer of the Zero Gravity Corporation, vice president of Washington Operations for Space.com, and senior policy advisor at SAIC.

The Challenger Center for Space Science Education is an international not-for-profit founded in 1986 by families of the Challenger Space Shuttle astronauts. Its mission is to facilitate space science education for students and their teachers. Other notable Challenger Center board members include:
