Welcome to WBB Consulting : Solutions and Support for a Changing World

Interoperability and Architecture Training Courses

WBB offers proven training in Interoperability and Architectures for both government and industry.  WBB’s training combines the latest information from DoD, Joint Staff and Service Components with our subject matter expertise in Interoperability, Net-Centric Data and Services and DoDAF Architectures.  Practical examples of certified programs are incorporated into the training.

WBB's next DoDAF Architecture course will be held April 6-9, 2010 in Reston VA.

Tool-Neutral DoDAF Architecture Training
DoDAF Version 2.0 was released by OSD/NII in May of 2009 and WBB ran its first fully updated version of both DoDAF courses in July of 2009. Both the DoDAF Essentials and DoDAF Practitioner courses that WBB offers use the new DoDAF V2.0 terminology, include the new Viewpoints, Views, Models, and concepts, and also focuses on how to translate DoDAF V1.5 compliant architectures to DoDAF V2.0.

We offer a one-day tool-neutral DoDAF Essentials course for managers who either make decisions based upon architectures or who need to understand the value architectures bring to their decision environment.  The course focuses on the general concepts of the DoDAF and how it is used within the DoD.  The training covers the latest version of DoDAF and discusses how to incorporate Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).  The target audience includes requirements officers, program office personnel, acquisition officers, reviewers of DoDAF architectures as part of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) process, and other managers of personnel creating DoDAF architectures.

The four-day Practitioner course adds three days and provides the basics for architecture development and use.  At the end of the course the student should be able to scope the architecture requirements and have an understanding of how to develop an integrated DoDAF architecture consisting of the 8 Viewpoints in DoDAF V2.0 (All, Data & Information, Standards, Capability, Operational, Services, System, and Project).  The target audience includes reviewers of DoDAF architectures and architects-in-training, who should take this course prior to attending a course from a tool vendor on how to implement the DoDAF within their tool.

We feel that our courses provide value beyond that of just technical DoDAF items, as all of our instructors are active architects.  WBB's architectures have been lauded by Joint Staff J-6 and ASD-NII as the best they have seen.  In addition, the relationships established during the execution of the architecture development with the Joint Staff and service reviewers of architecture allow our instructors to talk about current compliance requirements.

Interoperability Training
WBB offers Interoperability training for development and review of the Information Support Plan, Net Ready Key Performance Parameter (NR-KPP) and the associated elements within the NR-KPP, including Integrated Architectures, Information Assurance and Data and Services requirements.  The training is designed for managers of IT and C4I requirements and programs, developers of acquisition and capabilities (JCIDS) documents, and the reviewers of these products.  The courses are designed for both government and industry personnel.

The one-day Interoperability Requirements course provides a knowledge and understanding of the DoD and Service Component Interoperability and Net-Centric requirements, governance and documentation and the development and staffing process required for expeditious and successful JCIDS Interoperability and Supportability Certifications and Acquisition Milestone documentation.  The course is also designed for Industry understanding of how products are required to conform to Interoperability and Net-Centric mandates.

The three-day Information Support Plan course incorporates the one-day course and provides an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Information Support Plan, its development and successful review process.  The course provides tested techniques of analysis and Interoperability Issues resolution, IPT employment for discovery and resolution of net-centric and interoperability challenges and proven ISP review strategies leading to Joint Staff and DoD approval.  The course includes how to develop the ISP analysis, what is considered acceptable analysis, how to incorporate architecture in the analysis and Lessons Learned from recent ISPs and NR-KPPs.  Examples are used from certified ISPs and an extensive library of reference material is provided to the student for subsequent use.  Upon completion of the course, the student will not only understand, but be able to develop and review ISPs and NR-KPPs, resulting in successful certifications.

Additionally, a version of these courses has been selected by SPAWAR to train their reviewers of Information Support Plans (ISPs) and architectures.
